The Catalan property market continued to show a solid recovery during the third quarter of 2021. 24,040 sales were recorded, the highest result since 2007, with a quarterly increase of 8.97%. Sales of used homes led the activity, with 20,307 transactions, while new housing also showed a growth of 7.61%. On a year-on-year basis, an increase of 26.64% is observed, reaching the highest levels since the financial crisis of 2008.
As for prices, the average price per square metre remained stable, with a slight increase of 0.66% quarterly, standing at €2,241/m². Used homes experienced a 1.08% increase in prices, while new homes saw a slight adjustment of -0.81%. The report also highlights that the province of Barcelona accounted for 65.12% of sales, followed by Tarragona and Girona. The city of Barcelona registered a notable increase in sales, with a growth of 10.33%. The report highlights the general stability of the real estate market in Catalonia, with stable prices and sustained demand, despite global economic uncertainties. The coming quarters could see adjustments due to factors such as the increase in raw material and energy costs.
